Look at the Indivdual Rubric. Then answer the following questions.

1.What CST and IST grade what you allocate yourself for this project? Justify your response.

I believe i would allocate myself a B or C because i think i did a reasonable amount of work but not a staggering amout to deserve an A.

2.What could you do tonight that would improve your grade?

I think to improve my grade tonight i would need to edit my journal post so that they are more detailed and also need to respond to all of the diigo forum threads.

3.What grade do you think your team will give you for teamwork? Why?

I think my team will give me a B or C for teamwork for the same reason as question one,  my reasonable amout of work.

4.Thinking about your presentation on Monday, what do you need to do to score an “A” grade? (hint: Look at the presentation skills). What could you do before Monday, to ensure you receive an “A”?

I woul have to make sure i have a speech ready and pretty much memorized, I would need to keep maximum eye contact and be able to answer any questions made my the audience.

  • What influences your values about issues relating to your life?

The things that influence my values about issues relating to my life would have to be my friends, family and the media.

  • Do you ever compare images/values presented by the media to those of the bible? If so why? If not why not?

I have never compared images nor any values of the media to those of the bible simply because doing so has never crossed my mind.

  • Has this project challenged you to examine your values? Why / Why not

No the project has not challenged me to examine my values because nothing has occurred in the project that would make me do so.

  • How do you feel the media portrays social justice issues?

I feel that social justice issues are all portrayed differently depending on the type of media. Sometimes the issues are portrayed how they should be, truthfully. While on the other hand issues are sometimes are edited and things are added to the story for the sake of appealing to more of the audience, because they might believe that the social justice issue won’t be interesting enough.

  • Has it been difficult to find articles on social justice issues why/why not?

No it hasn’t been difficult because social justice issues are all over the internet, just as long as you have an idea to what your looking for you will have no problem. For example if your looking for a social justice issue relating to poverty all you have to do is go to a reliable website that provides news and current affairs and you might just find what your looking for on their homepage, if not theres always the search bar.

  • Do you think that the media operates from a moral framework? Give evidence by using your research.

Find TWO current media topics which you consider to be social justice or moral issues. Then using your eduBlog Page, under the category CST/IST – Project 5, answer the following questions for each media topic.

POVERTY

  1. Name the issue

Poverty is currently in the media and is classified as a social justice issue.

2. Describe one media account of this issue
Synonymous to the previous issue I found another media account on Fox news. After examining the account, it simply describes how poverty has dropped significantly compared to the last couple of years in America. The news article is called U.S. Poverty Rate Drops 1st Time Since 2000.”

3. Where did you get this media account from?

I retrieved this media account from Fox news. You can view it yourself by clicking on the following hyperlink http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,294912,00.html
4. Is this media account correct or reliable? Why?
Several pieces of evidence are found within the account such as statistics from the Census Bureau that proves poverty has dropped considerably. This in succession makes this media account correct and also reliable.

5. Where else might you be able to find more information about this issue?

You could possibly find my information concerning the issue on sites such as Wikipedia and Encyclopaedia Britannica.

“Jesus: The chosen one”

Justin Nacua

23rd June, 2008

Pencil and Paper

Held in artists visual arts diary

The way i have chosen to show my image of Jesus is shown in this drawing i have done showing Jesus wearing the infamous crown of thorns symbolizing the pain and suffering Jesus has gone through for all of humanities sake. I drew this image on a normal sheet of a4 paper, at first it started of as just a random sketch but then later on the image began to take shape. Using different types of lines i was able to make the effect of a rough sketch with many details which could be seen in many ways for example scars from the excruciating pain of the scourging he had endured. One of the most captivating things to me in the artwork is the crown of thorns which is simply made up of sharp lines placed in random areas which all turned out the way i wanted it to, messy.
